Tikipunga High School

Tikipunga High School is the lead school in the Te Tai Tokerau Trades Academy

Our students have access to the practical aspects of trades through work based placements as well as the experience of building Go-carts.

2014 saw the introduction of the Maori Performing Arts and Carving Academy. This course utilises the staff at Te Wanaga O Aotearoa working alongside Tikipunga High School staff to create a pathway for our creative trade students.

All of our academy courses includes a First Aid course, Health and Safety training and specific academy related courses like a ramset course.


  • Automotive Academy

    Automotive Academy

    The Automotive Academy is an 80 credit 2 year programme designed for students looking to pursue a career in the automotive industry. Students will do a mix of industry standards & practical project based activities.

    Students achieve credits towards the National Cert in Motor Industry & the Vocational Pathway Award in Manufacturing & Technology, makes this an ideal transition pathway to employment or further training.

    Students are also supported through transition to industry courses which include cv, first aid, Health & safety in the workplace, driver licensing.

    Maori Performing Arts and Carving

    This level 2 & 3 course covers whakairo & the cultural significance of it in tikanga maori.

    Students do a variety of practical base projects, along with design, art, dance & oratory skills, all relating to this industry
