Other Northland schools can also become involved by contacting the TTTA Manager, Denise Jelicich, based at Tikipunga High School.
Our Schools
Te Taitokerau Trades Academy is a Secondary Tertiary Partnership (STP) that is managed by four principals and was founded on the support of the Northland Principals Association.
The Academy is currently run through eleven schools across Northland and one Tertiary Institution. Tikipunga High School, Northland College, Dargaville High School, Kaitaia College, Otamatea High School, Whangarei Boys High School, Whangarei Girls High School, Kamo High School, Papa Taiao Earthcare, Whangaroa College and NorthTec are our Providers. All TTTA providers offer their own trades programmes chosen to reflect the needs of the students and their community.
Academy learning differs from school subject courses as they are almost an entire programme in themselves. Students will spend most school periods involved in their Academy work, be it practical or theory orientated. To be classed as an academy programme, the students must be involved in a minimum of 15 hours of trades specific learning, which can be a combination of practical and theory based teaching.
There is opportunity for schools to partner with a current TTTA Provider to better deliver a quality Vocational Pathway that best suits the learners needs.
