Wai / Whenua Restoration
Students learn about the threats to the land from invasive pests and the threats to water quality. Students then brainstorm solutions to these threats.

Engineering
Level 3 Engineering Course
Moana Restoration / Aquaculture
Students will gain an introduction to aquaculture by studying paua and oyster biology and environmental best practice for marine farming. They will learn how to spawn and grow paua for re-seeding and devise ways to reduce marine biosecurity threats.
Maori Performing Arts and Carving
Partnered with Te Wananga O Aotearoa, this course utilises skilled tutors to provide a course suited to learners wanting to further their education in Maori Performing arts and Carving.
Digital Art Academy
The learner undertakes a minimum of 10 hours of study at their base school, with the remaining 5 hours completed at NorthTec on a Friday using their tertiary facilities and faculty.
Enrollment for this course is undertaken the year prior to admission. NorthTec will inform schools of their timeline for this.
Electrical / Electronics
This programme take the learner through L3 credits to equip them for a career in the Electrical/Electronics fields. The learner completes practical and theory based work and has the opportunity to be involved in the industry sector in a work based placement.
L3 Cookery
This Programme utilises a partnership with NorthTec to offer the learner the opportunity to gain their L3 Cookery National Certificate. The learners spend one day a week at NorthTec as well as completing block courses in their holidays and during normal school terms. The remainder of the course is taught at their base school.
Agriculture / Horticulture
This programme offers students the opportunity to work through three levels of learning. This full time course involves working on a local farm for one or two days a week to learn a wide range of skills, including calf rearing and calving, handling livestock and use of farm vehicles.
Hospitality
This programme is an introduction to cookery, combining a mixture of theory and practical components. This full time course offers practical training with students working in the industry for one or two days a week. The programme covers the basics of cooking, kitchen safety and customer service.
Automotive and Engineering
This is a part time programme offered across two years (site dependant). Students achieve a range of key tasks including carrying out general engineering tasks, demonstrating knowledge of petrol fuel systems, automotive cooling systems and air conditioning, and knowledge of safe work practices in a workshop.
Carpentry
Learners will work through units at L2 to complete their BCATS (Building, Construction and Allied Trades) National Certificate L2. This is a mixture of both theory and practical skills.
